Rick Mabe — Through the Eyes of His Oldest Daughter, Katie Mabe

My dad, Rick Mabe, was without a doubt, one of the finest men I’ve ever known. While I may be a little biased as his oldest daughter, anyone who met him would agree he embodied the best qualities: kindness, generosity, warmth, humor, and unwavering love. He was the kind of person who made others feel welcomed, and supported - especially his family, whom he cherished beyond measure. The way he lived and loved continues to shape how I run my business, serve my clients, and give back to our community.

One of my dad’s greatest joys was music. He spent most of his life playing guitar in church, using his talent as a way to serve others and express his faith and love. He and my mom, Jewel, were married nearly 34 years and raised two daughters, me and my sister Erin. His greatest pride was being “Papa” to Roczen, Erin’s son. We all joke that the rest of us would have been invisible if he’d had the chance to meet her daughter, Eliza.

My dad believed in lifting others up and helping good people do great things. That’s why it means so much to carry his legacy forward through our largest community outreach effort—now reimagined as the Rick Mabe Legacy of Kindness Gift. It is my honor to continue sharing his spirit with the world, one act of kindness at a time.
